Val Dancer Wins the Welsh National

We’re still trying to take it all in.

Welsh National day at Chepstow was unlike anything we’ve experienced before. The fog made it almost impossible to follow the race properly — it really was a case of hoping Val Dancer would be “there or thereabouts” when they finally came into view.

Then suddenly he appeared out of the mist, travelling strongly under Charlie Hammond. Iwilldoit challenged, Jubilee Express finished late, but Val just kept finding. He showed real grit in the closing stages and stayed on all the way to the line.

For a small Shropshire yard, winning the Welsh Grand National feels pretty surreal. We’re incredibly proud of Val, who gives his all every day, and hugely grateful to Charlie for a brilliant ride. Massive thanks too to everyone at home who looks after him, and to his owners and supporters for putting their faith in us.

It may have been hard to watch — but it’s a day we’ll never forget.
